On April 23, 2025, at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed regarding joint participation in the Horizon Europe U-CAN project between representatives of the Educational and Scientific Institute for Energy Saving and Energy Management (ES ISEM) and the Municipal Institution “Research Institute for Socio-Economic Urban Development”.
As stated by the Director of ES ISEM, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Oksana Vovk, “the collaboration between our organizations within the framework of the project will contribute to the dissemination and scaling of the achieved results, both in terms of promoting best European practices in energy efficiency and climate neutrality of cities, and by providing opportunities to participate in trainings and information events held under the Horizon Europe Program. The project aims to engage Ukrainian cities in collectively achieving the goals of the European Green Deal.”
The Director of the Municipal Institution “Research Institute for Socio-Economic Urban Development,” Head of the Association of Institutes and Agencies for Urban Development of Ukraine, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Serhii Pavlovskyi, emphasized “the importance of joint project activities involving institutions and organizations of different profiles, as achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in energy and urban planning requires the engagement of all major stakeholders — from city administrations to development companies, energy providers, and, of course, the key drivers of innovation in green energy — universities and institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.”
The parties also agreed that, within the framework of the Cooperation Roadmap, experts from the Research Institute for Socio-Economic Urban Development will participate in discussions on ES ISEM educational programs, joint educational and scientific events, as well as awareness-raising activities for schoolchildren and students in the field of humanitarian demining.
